Designed for plus-size bodies. Built without shortcuts.
Most plus-size T-shirts are not designed — they’re scaled.
A smaller shirt is simply made wider and longer, and the problems start there. At 12-Grand, we take a different approach. We design and produce our garments specifically for plus-size bodies, with a clear focus on fit, fabric behavior, and construction quality. Because when sizes go up, details matter more — not less. This page explains how we approach fit and production, and why it results in a better shirt.
Fit comes first — always
We don’t start with trends, graphics, or marketing claims. We start with fit. Our T-shirts are engineered from XL through 12XL using non-linear grading — meaning different parts of the garment grow at different rates, just like real bodies do. This allows us to solve the most common plus-size frustrations:- Shirts that pull across the stomach
- Hems that ride up when sitting
- Fabric that clings or tents
- Sleeves that feel too short or restrictive
- Necklines that stretch out or feel tight
Every measurement exists to prevent one of these problems.
Not scaled. Engineered.
Bodies don’t grow evenly, and our shirts don’t either.
From XL upward:
- The chest grows, but the bottom hem grows more
- Length increases more at larger sizes to maintain coverage
- Sleeves continue to grow with the body — they never “freeze”
- Shoulders stay controlled to avoid a boxy silhouette
- Neck openings are adjusted to stay comfortable and stable
The result is a shirt that hangs cleanly, moves naturally, and keeps its shape — instead of clinging or looking oversized in the wrong way.
Built for real movement, not just standing still
A good plus-size shirt needs to work in real life.
We test our fits to ensure:
- No stomach pull when sitting
- No hem lift when arms are raised
- No twisting or distortion after wear
- Balanced drape front and back
If a sample doesn’t pass these checks, it doesn’t go into production.
Fit isn’t theoretical to us — it’s practical.
Fabric chosen for plus-size performance
Fabric behaves very differently on larger bodies.
Lightweight or stiff fabrics tend to cling, crease, or lose shape quickly — which is why we use mid-weight jersey designed to support the fit.
Our T-shirts are made using:
- Mid-weight fabric (approximately 240–250 GSM)
- Cotton-dominant blends with controlled stretch
This combination:
- Hangs cleanly instead of sticking
- Moves with the body without pulling seams
- Recovers after sitting and movement
- Feels substantial without being heavy or hot
The goal is comfort, stability, and a consistent drape — all day.
Construction that supports the fit
Fit doesn’t survive poor construction.
That’s why we focus on:
- Reinforced necklines that hold their shape over time
- Balanced seams that prevent twisting
- Construction methods suited for larger sizes
- Clear tolerances so “almost right” isn’t accepted
Production standards we trust
We produce our garments in a factory in India that also manufactures for established global brands such as Ralph Lauren and Fila. Not because we want to borrow a name — but because factories operating at that level are built around:
- Consistent quality control
- Precise execution of grading and measurements
- Repeatable construction standards
- Accountability at scale
- Recovers after sitting and movement
The goal is comfort, stability, and a consistent drape — all day.
Quality control without quiet compromises
Every production run is checked against:
- Approved measurements and tolerances
- Fit balance and drape
- Construction consistencyrs after sitting and movement
If something doesn’t meet our standards, it’s corrected or rejected.
No silent changes.
No shortcuts at larger sizes.
Why this matters
Plus-size customers are often asked to settle — for fit, for comfort, for quality.
We don’t believe that’s acceptable.
Fit isn’t a bonus feature.
It’s the foundation.
Everything we do — from pattern engineering to fabric choice to production standards — exists to make sure our T-shirts feel considered, intentional, and dependable on your body.
That’s what Fit, Fabric & Construction means at 12-Grand.
